Route Change

So, we all knew that we were going to Thailand, India, and Guatemala from the day we signed up. BUT, then the plans changed……. and now instead of going to Guatemala, we are going to Costa Rica! This news was sent to us last week and really surprised everyone. The reason for the change is because the ministry partner in Costa Rica really needed help during their busy season, but the Guatemala ministry partner did not really need us at that time but rather earlier. Another team will now be sent to Guatemala at a earlier time. My team will now be going to Thailand, India, and Costa Rica. I believe God has great plans for us in Costa Rica. To be honest I’m actually more excited about going to Costa Rica then I was for going to Guatemala.

What’s my life been like?

This past month has been a very busy month for me. I’m working full time at The Home Depot from 9 pm to 6 am Monday thru Friday. On the weekends, I’ve been picking up side jobs, like doing asphalt. On top of all this I’m going to school full-time at Columbia State. I’m doing all this so that all my bills back home will be paid for when I’m off on my mission trip. My sleep schedule is very complicated, some days are exceptionally long. At least once a week I pull a 24 hour-32 hour with no sleep. Most peoples weeks consist of seven days, mine are just 5 very long days.

School has been going well, I’ve been keeping up my grades and I plan to take summer classes this summer to stay on track.

Fundraising

A week or so ago I had my garage sale. My parents and I planned it the night before and put the signs up last minute. I got off work at 6am and went home to get the garage sale going by 7am. The day started out cold and nobody was showing up. Then around 8, people started pouring in to the garage sale. At one point there was around 30 people there at once. It had turned out to be a great day, it was about 70 degrees on the day of the garage sale. The sale was suppose to end at 2 but we kept going until 5. I met so many people in my neighborhood that I did not know before. Tons of people came up to me and asked about my mission trip. Some even prayed over me. Some people didn’t even buy anything, but yet they gave me a donation! At the end of the day we had raised $800!!!  I should now be close to $6,000 raised!! And I have to have $10,000 raised before I leave.

One response to “End of March update: and BREAKING NEWS”

  1. dude, this is insane. God must be giving you super powers or something, cuz I don’t know HOW else you could be doing all of this. it’s awesome. but like also…I’m praying for you lol, cuz the part where you talked about your sleep schedule is SCARY. And you can count on my prayers for continued fundraising success!
