Our ministry plans for this particular day were canceled, but we still got to go out and do ministry. A woman from our church needed prayer. We walked down the railroad tracks as a short cut into town.We went to the clothing store she owned. As we entered hundreds of children clothes were on shelves and racks. I learned that the woman we were going to pray for had made all the clothes. We went into the back where the clothes were made, and where she was working; she did not know we were coming, but her daughter had actually been the one to send us. We prayed over her store and over her.  The girls on my team listened to the Holy Spirit and started to pray particularly over her hands. ( The next day at church she told some of us that her hands had been healed and she now has no pain).  It was a really beautiful moment of prayer, this woman was shaking and tearing up. And on our way out we prayed for the younger lady working at the cash register.

We then walked a few blocks down to the big market to meet and pray over a lady who had a stand selling jewelry and honey. She also goes to our church. We surrounded her in the middle of the market and prayed over her and her business. She then asked us to stop by her farm one day! We then left the market and walked across a bridge.

On the other side of the bridge was a fruit stand. We stopped there to buy some fruit and ended up praying for him as well. He held out his arm and pointed to the goosebumps he had. He told us he had felt the Holy Spirit. He then pointed down the street and told us we had to go pray for his wife at the flower store. So that is what we did. We went to the flower shop and prayed over her. She told us we were a blessing!

She then sent us to her house, she pointed down the street and told us to take a couple turns. She wanted us to go pray over her mom. So that is what we did. We walked over there and shouted “UPE”, which in Costa Rica, houses are open windows for breeze and can hear everything from outside. You say upe if you want to talk to someone in the house. An older lady grabs her mask and walks out to open the gate and let us in. She was a widow, her husband had died a week earlier. We got to pray over her and be there for her. Our host lost her husband before and was able to encourage this woman.

Little things like this happen daily. Just a simple, hey can I pray for you?. Today ( a few days after this particular day) was our adventure day and we were in town and got to pray over a few people. It is really incredible when you get to see the same person you prayed for before, come up to you and ask for more prayer randomly. Team Overflow is loving it here!

To all those who read this… THANK YOU

  1. Sam, this is so great! Just a simple, “Hey, can I pray for you?” Prayer is so powerful and God is using your team there to lead them to him! Praying for your team and for the hearts of the people you are meeting to find Christ! Love you so much! Mom??
